EEG has won a new contract in Syria, for the Four Seasons Hotel Damascus, in addition to being awarded two new projects by existing client, the Mövenpick Beirut Resort and Hotel.
In Syria, EEG has been awarded a contract to undertake the energy audit for the Four Seasons Hotel Damascus, the only luxury hotel in the capital. This is some positive news, coming against the background of prolonged war within Syria. The energy audit started in June 2015 and will be completed by the end of August. In addition to the usual energy audit coverage, whereby all potential efficiency measures will be investigated and developed if deemed viable, the audit will also tackle the recent challenges of managing efficiently a hotel with a highly volatile electricity supply.
EEG has also been awarded two new energy efficiency projects by the Mövenpick Beirut Resort and Hotel. EEG has been working with this hotel since 2009, when it first undertook an energy audit, which was followed by the implementation of the first set of implementation of energy efficiency measures in 2010. The first of the new projects is for the design and installation of a chiller’s heat recovery system. This follows on from an initial detailed design of the heat recovery system and subsequent feasibility study, and should lead to recovering in excess of 900KWthermal of heat, resulting in over US$50,000 in annual cost savings and a payback period of under two years. The system will be totally integrated into the property’s hot water infrastructure.
The second project is for the supply and installation of a comprehensive LED retrofit project, following EEG’s earlier review of the current lighting installations. It will see the replacement of over 11,000 lighting fixtures with adequate LED equivalents by the end of the third quarter of this year.
